I know it sounds cheesy, but it really is true... some would say, “she was born with a camera in her hand and a song in her heart”.
While exploring my artistic abilities...over time, I unwittingly ‘cheated’ on my true love...photography. I experimented with different ways to express myself; pencil drawings, oil paintings, and other mediums. I dabbled in the art of sewing; designing party dresses and costumes for my kids and various items for my home. I experimented with cooking exotic dishes for my friends and family whom were the unwitting test group. As a child my life revolved around capturing everyday moments...okay, maybe everything, and singing my heart out at church and everywhere I could.
Eventually I realized that my love for photography outweighed the others, and little by little they took a back seat. And there’s no better genre for me than wedding photography. Being a romantic at heart, I love seeing couples of any age in love...like when I walk by a couple and I catch the way he‘s looking at her...just that way, while she’s in the middle of telling a story...with so much love. I think to myself, if only I had my camera to capture that moment for her. Much like that magical moment when a groom sees his bride for the first time...the emotions that well up. Or when the bride/groom dances with their parent to that special song...sniff; I’ll admit I do come equipped with tissues.
Some fun facts; I am a morning person which drives my partner batty, because he’s a night owl. I love getting up early in the morning when the world is still asleep and being out there to watch the sun rise and the critters wake...of course with camera in hand. That feeling of the morning mist on my face and the dew on my feet...and the smell. I could spend hours wandering through my favorite gardens by the lake, taking macro photos, watching the squirrels play and the butterflies and bees leisurely make their way from flower to flower. It reminds me how fortunate we are to live in such a spectacular planet that gives us these wonderful gifts each day.
I have more than twenty years combined practical and theoretical experience as a photographer...I started back in the day when film came in rolls and to me photography is about capturing life in all its candid splendor.
